Boyle nestles
at the foot of the Curlew
mountains at the North of County Roscommon.
It is 38 Kilometers from Roscommon Town, 15km from Carrick-on-Shannon,
40 km from Sligo Town and 180 km from Dublin (estimated distances). The town is
served by the N4 National Primary Route and the N61 National Secondary Route,
and also by the Dublin/Sligo railway line. The Dublin/Sligo train stops at
Boyle's award-winning railway
station five times daily.
There are frequent daily bus
services between Boyle,
Sligo, Galway and Dublin,
as well as weekly service
with distant universities
and learning centres. The opening of the N4 Curlew-by-pass
has resulted in the diversion of through traffic from Boyle, thereby further
improving the environmental amenity of the town. Schools Boyle
offers a range of pre-schools, primary, secondary schools and third level
education
